Obituary for Leah Rae Schofield

Leah Rae Schofield 82, passed away in her home June 23rd, 2019 in the Village of Fox Crossings. Leah was born March 10, 1937 in Louisville, Kentucky, to Beyrl (Sirles) and William Brandenberg.

Leah studied English Literature at the University of Louisville. She later attended Towson University where she obtained a degree in History. Leah taught classes and served as the Director of Towson University Women's Center from 1980 until the early 2000s. Leah lived a life of serving others. She was a life-long supporter of both civil rights and women's rights movements. Her compassion for those around her could not merely be put into words. She was the best listener and always had sound advice for those willing to share with her.

Leah enjoyed traveling, dog shows, writing, reading, visiting with family, and watching the Kentucky Derby. Leah was also very active in miniatures and was a part of miniature clubs both in Wisconsin and Maryland until recent years. Leah also played a big role in raising her grandchildren.

Leah is survived by her daughter Jennifer (Joseph) Verderami, sister Patricia Heintzman, grandchildren Brandon (Hannah Bevers) Schofield, Amanda (Crystal) Boelter, Paris Verderami, Matthew Verderami and great granddaughter Sophia Bevers. Also ex-husband Brian Schofield, niece Beth (Chris) Wiedewitsch, great niece Wilah Jo, nephew Michael Shawn Heintzman, and cousin Jayna Jo Sirlis Jamison. Leah is preceded death by her parents, her son David Schofield, brother-in-law Robert Heintzman, and grandson Michael Beers.

A celebration of life will be held in her home on July 10th, 2019 at 6:00 pm located at 2365 Meadow Green Dr Neenah, WI.

Our family would like to thank Crystal Boelter for her dedication to Leah as her main caregiver in her last years of life.
