Andrew Charles Abel

November 8, 1957 — July 25, 2023

Florence

Andrew “Andy” Abel, Florence, WI, passed away on July 25, 2023 at the age of 65.

Andy passed away unexpectedly at St Marys’ Hospital in Green Bay after his family had a chance to say goodbye to him. He is preceded in death by his father, Arnold Abel, and his mother, Pearl (Besset) Abel, of Hortonville, WI.

Andy is survived by his 3 children, Christopher Abel of Greenville, WI, Kelly (Thomas) Bates of Menasha, WI, and Caroline (Elisa) Abel of Menasha, WI; brothers Arnold (Debbie) Abel of Waupaca, WI, and Alexander (Bernice) Abel of Readfield, WI; grandchildren Riley Abel, Alisha Abel, and Hannah Filz; step grandchildren Rori, Ava, and Mena; nieces and nephews Jenn, Matt, Luke, Kyle, and Carmen.

Andy was born on November 8, 1957. He lived and went to school in Hortonville, WI. From the time they were young children, Andy and his brothers learned all about woodworking, carpentry, hunting and fishing from their father. This helped to form his career and passions in life. Andy had a booming construction business in the 1990’s – 2000’s, Abel building contractor. Andy loved spending his time hunting and fishing. He would say those were the only true sports. His house was full of different animal mounts from different states. He went on to teach his children all about hunting, fishing, and construction. Andy loved being on the lake the most, his house on Lake Poygan and cottage on Kentucky Lake. After Andy retired, he moved up to his land in Florence, WI where he spent his years surrounded by the trees and wildlife.

Andy will be missed by those who loved him. Whenever a smirk on the face, a twinkle in the eye, or a child falls in love with the outdoors, Andy will be there in spirit. A celebration of life will be taking place at his son Chris’s house, at a date to be determined.
