Catherine Grace Beckman

February 19, 1919 — September 5, 2025

Kimberly

Catherine Grace (Zuiches) Beckman passed away on September 5, 2025, at 106. She lived well and was well-loved!

Born on February 19, 1919, in Pittsfield, Wisconsin, to Arthur and Marie Werner Zuiches. Kate graduated from Seymour High School and later from the Milwaukee School of Beauty Culture. On June 21, 1940, she married her high school sweetheart, Francis “Bud” Beckman. Together they shared 69 glorious years until Bud’s passing in 2009. Kate’s faith allowed her to go in peace, knowing she would be reunited with her Beloved Buddy.

Catherine gave generously of her time to church, Scouts, and civic organizations. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church. At age 50 she boldly reentered the business world as a tax preparer and dental office receptionist, retiring in 1981.

Family was at the center of Kate’s heart. Even in her last week, she asked lovingly about her great-grandchildren. She was a voracious reader, loved the outdoors and camping all over the country. She and Bud were avid birders and wildflower lovers. She maintained a beautiful perennial flower garden. Kate was a terrific cook and hostess. Her joy shone in the simple pleasures—sharing laughter, playing board games and cards (always with a competitive spark!), and tackling crossword puzzles and acrostics in ink!

Kate is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Francis “Bud” Beckman, and her grandson, Jeffery Schmidt. She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith through her children Sue Schmidt, Beth (Doug) Becker, and William (Leeni) Beckman; her grandchildren Jenny (Mike) Radtke, Julie (Rick) Hahn, Mike (Kendra) Schmidt, Alyssa (Shaun) Wallace, Bria (Brad) Robbert, Anne, Andrew (Jen), and Jenny Beckman; as well as twelve great-grandchildren who will carry her memory forward.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on October 4, 2025 at 11 am at First United Methodist Church, 325 E. Franklin St, Appleton, WI. Visitation will be held one hour before the service.
