David H. Curtis

October 23, 1943 — March 29, 2026

Neenah

David H. Curtis was born October 23, 1943, in Harlin, IA to Charles and Esther Curtis (Graham). He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 29, 2026, at the age of 82. David most recently resided in Neenah, Wisconsin, and throughout his life also made his home in Oshkosh, Rome, Wisconsin Rapids, Coloma, and Union Grove, Wisconsin.

As a 7 year old boy, David’s father explained to him the way of salvation and he responded to God’s offer of salvation. He was grateful for the years he walked with God and for God’s faithfulness to him.

David married his sweetheart, Sharon Curtis on September 10, 1965. They were married for 60 years, a partnership built on the Bible, faith, devotion, perseverance, and family. Together, they raised their children and created a home filled with love and care for others.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Curtis; his sons Duane Curtis (Cindy) and Bruce Curtis; and four cherished grandchildren, David (Allison), Matthew (Kelly), Joshua and Benjamin Curtis, whom he deeply adored. David rarely missed a chance to attend his grandson’s games, proudly ringing his cowbell from the stands and enthusiastically cheering them on with his favorite phrase, “Let’s Go Valley!”

David was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Curtis and Esther Curtis; his siblings Dorthy Leeds, Charles Curtis, Fred Curtis, and Richard Curtis; and by his children George Curtis, Faith Joy Curtis, and LuDawn Lynne Curtis.

He dedicated much of his working life to serving others across the state of Wisconsin, including roles with Shepherds Home and School and Camp Fairwood. David later retired from MSTC in Wisconsin Rapids, leaving behind a legacy of commitment, kindness, and service.

In his retirement, David continued to live out his faith through missionary work, traveling on multiple mission trips to South Africa, as well as to Belgium and Hawaii. His desire to serve and help others remained strong throughout his life.

David enjoyed being a part of a big family with lots of nieces and nephews. He loved a family gathering and could be counted on to give a family update and bring a batch of his “Christmas Crack”.

David loved going to church and lived his faith daily. He served as a deacon or trustee for many years. He could be heard each Sunday making a joyful noise as he sang enthusiastically.

He was known for his generosity and helpfulness. He was truly a blessing to those around him whether they were a family member, neighbor, or friend.

A visitation and memorial service will be held Saturday April 25th at Calvary Baptist Church, 469 Airport Ave., Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon, followed by the memorial service at 1:00 p.m.

One of David’s favorite verses was John 3:16, which he quoted shortly before he passed: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shepherds Home, Camp Fairwood, or Valley Christian School.
