Donald Morawek

Donald J Morawek (age 89) - loving husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa passed over into eternal life on Wednesday evening September 20, 2023. Donald was born on February 10, 1934 in Green Bay. He was the only child of the late Helen M. Morawek-Priebe. He graduated from New London high school in 1952. Don proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Intrepid from 1952 – 1956. Don married Glenna R. Carey on July 6, 1957. Together they raised three children in Appleton.

Donald was preceded in death by his mother Helen M. Morawek-Priebe. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Glenna R. Morawek (nee Carey), his children Douglas (Sandra )Morawek - St. Petersburg, FL; Khristine (Eugene) Miller - Viola, WI; Sara (Greg) Wipperman – New Holstein, WI, Grand Children Brittany (Brandon) Suemnicht – Howards Grove, WI; Casandra Wipperman – Milwaukee, WI; Mariah (Austin) Lau – Kiel, WI; Jessica Drossart – Pompano Beach, FL, Great Grand Children Aria Wipperman, August and Hattie Lau, Maddox Suemnicht.

As a young boy, Don spent his summers in Chicago where he became a life-long Chicago Cubs fan. He was also a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan. As a father, Don loved spending time with his children, taking them bowling, to ball games, playing tennis and taking yearly vacations with the family. Don and Glenna enjoyed trips out West with the children and grandchildren making many precious memories. Playing cards, especially cribbage, was one of Don’s life-long passions. He would regularly challenge his children, grandchildren and anyone who’d dare to go up against him. Don loved ice cream and was often caught eating it at all hours of the day and night. Don’s great grandchildren were his joy and comfort. When they came into a room, his face always lit up.

The family would like to extend appreciation and gratitude for the compassionate care Don was provided by Caring Hands Assisted Living in New Holstein and the Calumet County Hospice team.

Private family services are being planned per Don’s wishes.
