Dona Mae Robl, 88, of Appleton, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026. She was born on August 12, 1937, in Appleton to Bernard and Norma (Bellin) Schafelke. She was raised and spent her life there.
On February 25, 1956, Dona married Carl Robl. Together they built a life marked by devotion and steadiness. Their marriage, which began nearly seven decades ago, was a foundation for their family and a reflection of enduring love.
Dona was a devoted mother to Richard, Lori, Anne (Jeff), and Karen, who preceded her in death. She was a proud grandmother to Amanda (Nathan Sleger). Dona lovingly and tirelessly cared for her daughter Lori, remaining by her side with remarkable tenderness and resolve until just weeks before her own passing.
She was deeply connected to her siblings and treasured the memories they shared. Dona is survived by her sisters Bette Bessett, Carol Wilson, and Anna Rowe, and her brothers Gerald (Susie) Schafelke and William (Faye) Schafelke. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Norma Schafelke, her sister Mary Shriel, and her daughter Karen.
She had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and found joy in simple, meaningful pursuits. Dona loved to cook, spend time outdoors, and relax at the family cabin in Carter, Wisconsin. She enjoyed reading, particularly stories of courage and perseverance, and she expressed her creativity through poetry, drawing, and music, often playing guitar and singing.
Family meant everything to Dona. She cherished her siblings and held dear the memories they shared, speaking of them often with affection and gratitude. Her life was shaped by loyalty, care, and an attentiveness to others that left a lasting impression. Dona loved the Bible and read it daily. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1970, a decision that guided her life and gave her a steady sense of purpose. She held close the Bible’s promise of a future where life continues on a restored earth, free from pain and loss.
In the weeks leading up to her death, she spoke often of this hope and of being reunited with her parents, her daughter Karen, and all those she loved, a future she looked forward to.
Dona Mae Robl will be deeply missed by her husband Carl, her children, granddaughter, extended family, and all who were touched by her kindness and faithful love. Her life leaves behind a legacy of compassion, quiet strength, and hope that continues beyond her final days.
In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held.
