Obituary

Dottie Hill passed away on April 10, 2026. She was born March 14, 1945 to Rosella and Martin Van Asten, and raised in Little Chute, along with her four sisters - Audrey, Mitz, Shirley and Diane – and later met our dad, Jim. He would never forget her name. She was wearing a dress with dots.

We were blessed and loved by the best parents, with them being involved in every aspect of our lives and attending every soccer and basketball game. Our summers were filled with camping all over Wisconsin - Devils Lake, Long Lake, Chute Pond, the Dells, and ventures along Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. We grew up with a love of nature and tubing down Bagley Rapids under the watchful eye of Mom, and Dad's waiting arms at the bottom of the small falls. We slid down Slippery Rock and hiked the hills and rocks at Devil's Lake. We climbed the dunes at Terre Andrae and walked the beaches along Superior.

Mom loved working in the yard and lugging bags of mulch to add a touch of nature to the yard, mowing the lawn, and shoveling snow. She simply loved being outside. She loved playing cards, a mean game of Aggravation, Fats Domino and Van Morrison, drives in the Fall just to see the color of the trees, family, friends, and most of all, Jim, Mike, and Jenny.

She loved to hang with her cousin, Donna, and we often referred to them as Thelma and Louise. She loved seeing and talking to her friend, Brenda in Louisiana, who with her husband Nathan, formed a strong friendship with Mom and Dad after Nathan and Dad met up years after their Army days. They foot stomped with their dancing, golfed, laughed, and knew the meaning of good friends. She loved keeping in touch with Tony, whose friendship and music entertained Mom and Dad through the years, and helped them waltz across Texas.

Not only do we have the best parents, but we also have the best aunts, uncles, and cousins on both the VanAsten side and on the Hill side. We treasure every memory of the family camps, reunions, and picnics. Thank you to all of them for always being there.

Thank you to Christi. Mom cherished you, as well as John and the other neighbors who watched out for her.

Mom, you along with Dad, did so good with us and did everything right, and we're thankful that we could give you that last hug before you went on your way. We will miss you so much. You can now be with Dad and live in that mountain greenery, and walk those beaches along Lake Superior hand in hand. We love you.
