Edward A. Ritchie (Igl), age 66, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, at ThedaCare Hospital in Appleton, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on May 31, 1959, in Antigo, Wisconsin, the son of Francis and Lenore (Shadick) Igl.

After graduating from Antigo High School in 1978, Edward attended the State College of Beauty Culture in Wausau, graduating in 1981. He worked at several salons in the Appleton area before owning his own, including Eclectic 1 by Edward Allen , Onyx Salon and Spa , and Scissorhands Barber Shop . Throughout his career, he also traveled statewide as a platform artist, sharing his passion and creativity with others in the beauty industry. 

Edward met the love of his life, Brian Ritchie, in Appleton on October 24th. They married on October 13, 2014, and shared nearly 37 wonderful years together. They loved spending time with friends, enjoying Wisconsin’s supper clubs, traveling to Las Vegas, and exploring new experiences together. Edward also enjoyed cooking and had a deep love for animals, especially his two macaws, maine coon cats, and dogs he and Brian shared over the years. 

Edward is survived by his beloved husband, Brian Ritchie ; his siblings, Debbie Igl, Jayne (Paul) Wirth, Walter (Barbara) Igl, and Joe (Cindy) Igl ; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Lenore Igl and grandparents, Joseph and Emily Igl and Walter and Eleanor Shadick . 

In accordance with Edward’s wishes, there will be no formal services or celebrations. He asked that each of you celebrate his life in your own way. 

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the team at ThedaCare Hospital in Appleton, especially those in the ICU Department, for their compassionate care and kindness shown to Brian, family, and friends during this difficult time. Your support made a meaningful difference.
