Frederick “Fred” Cardin, 75, our beloved brother and uncle, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on July 11th, 2024.
Fred was born on July 26th, 1948, in Neenah, Wisconsin to Avis and Gerald Cardin. Fred was a role model to his younger siblings, graduating from the University of Wisconsin- Madison with a degree in Philosophy. He lived in California for 13 years but spent the majority of his life enjoying the quiet of home in Appleton, WI. Fred was an avid reader and writer, with several publications including a novel in 2022.
He loved to travel and organized wonderful road trips through the American West, visiting many beautiful National Parks. Fred brought his siblings along for trips— they camped and listened to his amazing stories. He was a safe person to his family, and many of them credit him for opening up their world beyond Wisconsin. Fred was a beacon of light, someone that his family could always count on.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Jack, Brad and Larry.
He will be remembered for his genuine smile, keen intelligence, hilarious storytelling, compassionate heart, and will be missed dearly by his siblings: Frank Cardin, Janeine Cardin, Judy Cardin (Bob Plamann), Joy Cardin (Rob Starbuck) and many nieces and nephews.
The family is planning a private celebration of life at a later date. In memoriam of Fred, please reach out to a loved one and let them know you care.
