James Robert “Chink” Lyons passed away peacefully at home on September 4, 2026. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, December 1, 1947, to the late Robert and Mildred (Poeschl) Lyons. Jim grew up in Oshkosh Wisconsin. Many fond memories were created at South Park which was located across the street from his childhood home. Jim graduated from Oshkosh High School and worked in the shipping department at Brickham Stamping for more than 20 years. After retiring, he moved to Las Vegas Nevada and continued working as a local truck driver until he fully retired. Jim was known for working hard and playing hard. He enjoyed traveling cross-country on his Harley, meeting new people along the way, baseball, bowling, and spending time with family and friends. A natural problem-solver, Jim especially enjoyed puzzles and building model cars.

Jim was a man of few words and will be remembered for his quiet strength. He is survived by his daughters, Kim Burdick and Leah Lyons Cotton (Kelly); his son, Doug Lyons; his granddaughter, Kayla (Andrew) Belcher; and his great-granddaughters, Adeline and Laurel. He is also survived by his brother, Gary (Darlene) Lyons; sisters-in-law, El and Deb Lyons, friend Philomena Ryan and his furry friend, Bandit (a.k.a. Trooper) along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie; his parents; his brothers, Ron, Paul, and Dave; his sisters, Toni Folske and Karla; and his grandson, Jordan Burdick.

We wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated ThedaCare at Home - Hospice team who provided exceptional care and comfort during Jim’s illness. Your compassion, patience, and professionalism brought peace to our family during a difficult time. We are deeply thankful for the kindness you showed, not only to Jim but to all of us who loved him. Your efforts will always be remembered with warmth and gratitude.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 26 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at South Park Shelter 2, 1300 Georgia Street, Oshkosh WI. Jim’s family is grateful for the kindness and support shown during this time. A memorial tree will be planted at South Park in honor of the Lyons family in the Spring of 2027.
