Joseph Michael Spatchek, age 70, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. He was born February 1, 1954, to Harold and Clara (Lenss) Spatchek, and grew up on the family farm in Brillion. Following graduation from Brillion High School in 1972, Joe served two years in the U.S. Navy. During most of his work life, Joe was a quarry heavy equipment operator before retiring in 2011.
Joe met his best friend and long-time companion, Brenda Hansen, in 1982. They were married on August 19, 2005, and resided in Kaukauna. He was an avid Packers and Brewers fan and always enjoyed listening to games on the radio outside on the patio, looking out at the flowers and birds in their beautiful yard.
Joe is survived by his wife Brenda, brothers and sisters Terri (Don) Adams, Milwaukee; Katie (Dan) Farrell, Brillion; Carol (Dennis “Smokey”) Tompkins, Pipe; Mike (Peggy) Spatchek, New Holstein; Marlene (Rick) Konrad, Brillion; John (Patricia) Spatchek, Brillion; Tom Spatchek, Brillion; Kristine (Dan) Spielbauer, Milwaukee; Martha (Clint) DeKiser, Fox Crossing; and Pat (Lori) Spatchek, Brillion; and many nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his in-laws, David and Janice Hansen, Mountain; brother- and sister-in-law Peter and Amy Hansen and nephew Devin, Appleton; and cat Bruno.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Rose Auer; a brother, James Spatchek; and a nephew Collin Hansen.
A private celebration and remembrance of Joe is planned in early June.
