Kenneth E. Affeldt

August 3, 1940 — May 9, 2026

Little Chute

Kenneth Earl Affeldt, Age 85, of Appleton Wisconsin passed away on May 9 2026.

Ken was born August 3 1940 in New London, Wisconsin, the son of Earl Affeldt and Agnes (Kloehn) Affeldt. He had no brothers or sisters.

Upon his 1958 high school graduation, Ken immediately enlisted into the US Navy where he became an Electrician’s Mate 3rd Class Petty Officer, serving aboard the USS Myles C. Fox (DDR-829). He returned to civilian life in 1961 having traveled above the Arctic Circle, the Mediterranean Sea, the Caribbean and along the entire Atlantic coastline.

The majority of his working career was devoted to working as an Engineering Technician for electric utilities. In 2004 he retired from the Kewaunee Nuclear Power Plant as Senior Engineering Technician.

Ken’s lifelong Christian faith was founded upon the theologies of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Throughout his adult life Ken was involved in support of groups such as Volunteers in Probation, Big Brothers, Boy Scouts, Valley Mounted Volunteers, Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army and Trail Life WI-1857. Ken’s patriotic passion was reflected by his support of veterans and frequent display of the American flag.

As his health began to take a toll upon his activity, what he missed most was repairing and building in his workshop, interface with family, friends and neighbors and his ability to offer physical assistance.

His pastime efforts were directed for many years towards Civil War re-enacting, his love for wood working, hunting, fishing and anything that reflected his curiosity and great love of nature.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents, many friends and Duke, his faithful equine friend of 20 years. He is survived by two sons, a daughter, and a dear friend who remained at his side in sickness and in health.

A celebration of Ken’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 11 2026 at Faith Lutheran Church-Evergreen Campus 3100 E Evergreen Drive, Appleton WI 54913. Visitation begins at 1:00. His mortal remains will be joined with those of Duke in a private affair.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Salvation Army of the Fox Cities to be specifically used to support their outreach to underprivileged children in the community.
