Larry Sylte, 74, passed away peacefully at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton, Wisconsin March 4, 2026. Born in Colfax, Wisconsin, on Feb. 24, 1952. Larry lived a life filled with love, laughter, and kindness.
He will be remembered for his humor, strong character, and unwavering love for his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol, his children, Stephen (Alisha) Sylte and Stephanie (Adam) Guden, granddaughters, Alexandra and Emily Guden, brother Lynn (Erin) Sylte, brother Lonny Sylte, nieces Allison and Nicole Sylte. He is also survived by many special other family members and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Curtis and Marian Sylte.
Larry retired July 31, 2005, after over 30 years of employment with Swiss Miss (Conagra). Larry was a proud member of the United States National Guard, a Menomonie Hall of Fame bowler, and had been an active member of the Menomonie High School Booster Club. Outside of his activities, he loved watching, participating, and supporting all kinds of sports. No matter the circumstance, he was always supporting his children and grandchildren in their athletic pursuits- whether he could be there in-person or watching from home.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Menomonie, Wisconsin at Stout Craft Co. Kitchen & Tap House, 1501 Broadway St N, on Saturday, April 4, from 1-6 p.m. While we wish everyone could join us in person, we invite you to honor Larry in your own way and share your memories.
Larry’s family is eternally grateful to the team of ThedaCare Hospice, Cherry Meadows Hospice, and Oakridge Garden Nursing Center for their compassionate care during his final weeks.
