Obituary

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Laura Jayne (née Osborne) Mountjoy, aged 56, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on February 28th, 2026 in Appleton, Wisconsin. She was born on September 26th, 1969 to John Barclay and Sharon Osborne at St. Catharines General Hospital in St. Catharines, Ontario, sharing her birthday and namesake with her aunt, Valerie Jayne. She grew up in the countryside with her loving family, siblings, Christy, John, and Joel.

Laura was a woman of faith, who was baptized at 8 years old at the Ontario St. Church of Christ. She carried her faith throughout any trials and celebrations of her life and passed it on to her children.

Laura attended Great Lakes Christian High School in Beamsville, Ontario, before leaving Canada for college in York, Nebraska. She was a member of the choir and had a love for music she carried through her life. While at college, Laura met the great love of her life, Ernest Theodore “Todd” Mountjoy and together they formed a loving bond and centered their life around their family. Laura’s greatest pride was being a mother to her four children, Daleth, Maile, Sage, and Micaiah, who brought her immense joy, and for whom she would do anything. Laura loved to cook and bake and shared her delicious treats, including her famous cinnamon rolls and Sunday roast beef with Yorkshire pudding with her family and friends.

In 2001, Laura and her family moved to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and after a few years she returned to school for nursing. Laura intentionally cared for the people around her, and became a nurse to spread that loving energy to her community. She was loved by her coworkers and managed her work life, her household, and raising her children with enduring commitment.

Though she faced a journey marked by a pituitary tumor and various medical hurdles, Laura never let her health define her. She emerged from those trials with a victorious spirit, using her unforgettable humor and contagious laughter to light the way for others. She remained a symbol of strength and stayed health-focused from 2015 onward.

In 2009, Todd and Laura moved to Rhinelander, Wisconsin, where they stayed until Todd’s untimely passing in 2019. While deeply grieving the loss, Laura took great joy in being a grandmother, known affectionately as “Honey” by the growing number of grandchildren, and moved in 2021 to Brillion to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

The world has lost a bright light with Laura’s passing, and she will be deeply missed. She is survived by her children, Daleth (Emma) Mountjoy, Maile Mountjoy, Sage (Justin) Cleland, and Micaiah Mountjoy; grandchildren, Finn, John, Gracie Jayne, Rowan, and Beckett; siblings, Christy Williams, John (Kelly) Osborne, Joel (Kristin) Osborne; her mother, Sharon Osborne; and her aunt, Valerie Jayne Lane.

A private celebration of life will be held by the family later this year.
