Our beautiful mother, Linda Joyce Bartelt, passed away Thursday August 21st surrounded by the love of her family. To say she was the most loving mother is an understatement—being a mother was her greatest calling in life, and she truly was the best. We could not have asked for more. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and she put their needs above her own with unwavering devotion.
To know her was to know a kind, compassionate, and generous soul. She touched the lives of so many with her warmth, selflessness, and gentle spirit. She was not only a remarkable mother and grandmother, but also a wonderful friend.
Creative at heart, she had an artist’s soul. She found joy in gardening, woodworking, and painting, and her talents shone brightest in the little details she shared with her family. She loved baking—especially the imaginative cakes she made for her grandchildren—and found happiness in any moment spent with loved ones.
She will be remembered always for her boundless love, her creativity, her laughter, and the immeasurable mark she left on the hearts of her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Jennifer Nigl and her husband Eric, with their children Colin and Ella; Sarah Lautenschlager and her husband Josh, with their children Madalynn and Brooklyn; Daniel Bartelt and his wife Ann, with their daughter Anya. She is also survived by her brothers Glenn Jensen (wife Sharon), Brian Jens, and Michael Jens.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Bartelt, father, Eugene Jensen, and her mother, Joyce Jens.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful hospice team at ThedaCare for their care and compassion, and to her beloved friend, Marianne Kasten, for her lifelong friendship and unwavering support during this difficult time.
Honoring Linda’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held with her family.
