Lynn “Butch” Deeg, 80, from Town of Center, WI, peacefully passed away at home on November 27, 2023, after battling COPD for years. Lynn was born on May 29, 1943, in Florida. He spent his early years having a ball and getting into mischief in his grandparents’ house in Appleton. Not only were his grandparents living there with him, but his mom, brother, and all his aunts and a great grandfather as well to love on him. Pandemonium at its best!! His fondest memories.
He was a trouble shooter by trade, working for several companies diagnosing and repairing mainly paper machines, but other types of machinery as well.
Lynn was a private and quiet guy, but also was known to leak glimpses of his silly sassy side. He had a wonderful smile and gave amazing hugs. He loved nature and all things 4-legged, especially his current “kids” … Stella, Maggie, and Emma. Lynn had a huge heart for his family, the very young, the very old, and some in between. He loved to dance and did it well. He relished the challenges of whitewater rafting in the summers with Kris. He enjoyed traveling to DeYoung’s Family Zoo to take in the wildness of the big cats, bears, and assorted animals. He loved playing Eucker with neighbors and friends, as well as weekly poker, cribbage round robins and partner cribbage tournaments in the winter. He so looked forward to our annual Memorial Day and Labor Day cookouts with his parents, aunts, and brother & sister-in-law. He was proud to share and continue those reunions for more than 10 years, as it was a blast for all!! If you knew him.... food was almost his obsession!!! He LOVED to eat.... he was a "Mikey" with just about everything. But most of all, he truly loved, appreciated, and reveled in the beauty and serenity that he and Kris developed on their property… the daily cribbage matches in the afternoon…maybe a martini or margarita, and the breathtaking sunsets.
Lynn is survived by his wife Kris; four brothers: Dick, Randy, Dave, and Joe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Joyce Deeg, as well as his aunts Betty Nutting, Shirley Schrimpf, Bonnie Nutting, and uncles Darrel Nutting, Bob Schrimpf, John Meyers, and Bob Vanderlinden. Cousins Deborah Vanderlinden and Heather nutting also preceded him in death.
Lynn served in the Air Force for four years in Taiwan where he also achieved black belt status in Karate. He attended and graduated Menasha High School in 1961. Kris enjoyed teasing him about the boys naked swimming at Menasha High.
Lynn: You, my love, have been the warrior for so many years…. Fighting to maintain despite your medical challenges. But it was time to let you go. We have been together for 40 years…. A part of my heart died today with you as you left on a new journey. So many have been waiting to greet you and you can finally run free…
I’ll meet you someday…. somewhere over the rainbow…
In accordance with Lynn’s wishes, no services will be held.
