Marilyn Louise Guyton (née Adams), age 91, of Neenah, Wisconsin, passed away on May 16, 2026. Marilyn was born on December 4, 1934, in Titusville, Pennsylvania, as the only child of Cecil L. and Oleta E. Adams.
A compassionate caregiver from an early age starting with all the animals on her grandparents’ farm in rural Pennsylvania, Marilyn graduated from the Oil City Hospital School of Nursing in Oil City, Pennsylvania in 1955 and went on to dedicate her professional life to helping others as a Registered Nurse. Her nursing career reflected both her ability to always put others first and her deep and caring concern for people. Over the years, she served in many different roles including as an RN at Oil City Hospital, and at Bashline Hospital in Grove City, Pennsylvania; as an ER nurse at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, Indiana; as a school nurse at Clay Junior High School in the Carmel Clay School District in Carmel, Indiana; and later as an RN at Peabody Manor in Appleton, Wisconsin. Even after retirement, Marilyn remained active and social while working at Kohl’s Department Store in Neenah, Wisconsin.
Marilyn had a witty sense of humor, a joyful spirit and a gift for making people smile. She loved music and singing throughout her life, even hosting her own radio show for a time in Oil City, and later in life enjoying many years of singing and performing with the Neenah “Y” Nots. She was also a devoted sports fan who faithfully cheered on the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers; as well as her son-in-law's high school football team in Franklin, Wisconsin. She also loved cheering on her grandsons in football, baseball, and wrestling and her daughter, Nancy, while showing her horses. Whether celebrating a big win, singing along to a favorite song, or sharing funny stories with friends and family, Marilyn brought warmth and energy wherever she went.
More than anything else, Marilyn treasured her family. She was a proud and loving mother and grandmother whose daughters, son-in-law, grandsons, and special grand-daughter-in-law brought her endless joy. Her kindness, humor, and caring nature made a lasting impression on everyone, fortunate enough to know her. Family and friends will forever remember her favorite expression, “Oh my garsh!” delivered with perfect timing and affection along with a slight Pennsylvania accent which she retained throughout her life.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Nancy Guyton, Neenah, Wisconsin and Lynn (Louis) Brown, Franklin, Wisconsin; her beloved grandsons, Louden Brown, New Richmond, Wisconsin and Logan (McKenzie) Brown, Onalaska, Wisconsin; her special sister-in-law, Bonnie Burch of Oil City, Pennsylvania, and her nephew Robert (Jacqueline) Burch, Pequea, Pennsylvania.
Marilyn’s legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through her compassion, laughter, friendship, and unwavering love for her family. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
