Melissa "Missy" Arvillas Thiel

Menasha- Melissa A. Thiel, 54, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Ascension St. Elizabeth hospital after a fierce battle with cancer. She was born on November 1, 1969, in Neenah, Wisconsin, the daughter of Oscar and Christine (Morris) Moderson. She dedicated her life to raising her three sons. She will always be remembered for her strong-willed and independent nature, along with her passion for the Minnesota Vikings, Nascar and playing darts.

Melissa is survived by her children: Shane and Derek Thiel, and Alex (Brittany) Drath; grandchildren: Kayden and Keegan; siblings: Becky, John (Roni-Sue) and Thomas Moderson; parents: Oscar and Christine (Morris) Moderson; many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Melissa was preceded in death by her sister: Sondra “Sandy” Strobel; paternal and maternal grandparents.

A celebration of life will be held Friday April 5, 2024, at Sabre Lanes Bowling Alley, 1130 Midway Rd, Menasha, with dinner from 5:00-pm-7:00pm with bowling and darts to follow. Missy frequented this bowling alley with her family and enjoyed playing darts and bowling here. In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe has been created in Missy’s name to help the family with the cost of arrangements.
