Norma Elia Cabrera, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at the age of 62.

Born on August 23, 1964, Norma was the beloved daughter of the late Francisco and Carmen Cabrera. She was the sixth of nine children. A loving mother, sister and grandmother, she is survived by her dear children: Yesenia, Diana, Martin Jr., Carmen, Esmeralda, and Layla, and grandchildren, Camila, Leandro, and Jayden. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world.

She spent her early years in Matamoros, Mexico helping at her parents’ food storefront along with her older sisters. This may be where her love of Mexican cooking came from and shared authentic dishes for her friends and family for years to come.

Later in life, Norma became a devoted worshipper of Jehovah and her ministry work brought her the greatest joy. Her hope in the future paradise on Earth deeply comforted her towards the end of her life.

Norma loved catching sunsets and sunrises in Door County, WI, jumping in the freezing Pacific ocean of Northern and Southern California and spent many years traveling back to South Padre Island, TX to visit her family.

An avid Packer fan, Norma tried to make it to at least one game every year, and even if they lost in the playoffs, she would say, “There’s always next year!” Her hobbies included dancing, singing at the top of her lungs, crocheting, and gardening at home; sunflowers being her favorite.

She found beauty in everything around her, especially in her daughters. For them to see her happy despite her struggles was an important motivation to her. Whatever trials she faced, she didn’t allow herself to give up. Norma was encouraging and selfless, putting others first and dropping everything to help a friend in need. She will be immensely missed in the grand community she cultivated.
