Patrick John Carew

Patrick J. (Pat) Carew, 86, of Wautoma, Wisconsin, died peacefully on March 12, 2024 at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton, Wisconsin, little more than a week after being diagnosed with metastatic cancer. Courage and gratitude for the kindness of caregivers and family marked his last days.

Pat was born on January 6, 1938 in Chippewa Falls, WI, the son of John Rexford and Helen (Sweitzer)

Carew. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by wives Mary Ann Sikora and Joanne Schaeffer; siblings William (Baby Billy), Rosemary (late James) Halbleib, James (late Jeanette and Lucia) Carew, Helen (late Robert) Thorn; nephew Jerry (Jill) Halbleib and aunts and uncles. Pat is survived by one sister, Susan (late Joseph) Perez of La Grange Park, IL, nieces and grand nieces, nephews and grand nephews, family and friends.

Pat graduated from McDonell High School and DeVry Institute where he studied computer technology which was then in its infancy. He spent much time and energy working on the development of software to assist the management of chiropractic offices. Pat also studied at Eau Claire Technical College where he became an instructor of Computer Basics for Seniors, a work he took pride in and loved.

Pat also loved country music and never missed a Grand Ole Opry Show. Having learned to play the guitar in his youth, he found comfort in and shared that gift all his life. For many years, he especially enjoyed performing with local bands on weekends.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday April 2, 2024 at Holy Ghost Church, 412 So. Main St., Chippewa Falls. Internment will be at Our Lady of the Falls Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. Those who wish to remember Pat in a special way may make a gift in his memory to a charity of their choice.
