Ronald Fred Kuncl

Dec 15, 1946 — Oct 6, 2026

Ronald Fred Kuncl was a man of many talents, a strong work ethic, a wonderful sense of humor, and a deep love of the outdoors. Born on December 15, 1946, Ron grew up in Berwyn, Illinois, and lived a life filled with varied experiences, hard work, service to his country, and a love of fishing and hunting.

Ron proudly served his country in the United States Army as a medical specialist, including a tour of duty in Germany. His active-duty service was from September 2, 1966, through August 31, 1968. He remained on standby through 1972 and received an honorable discharge from the Army on September 2, 1972.

Throughout his lifetime, Ron followed a diverse career path. He worked as a Yellow Book advertising salesman and as a trim carpenter, following in the footsteps of his father. He later pursued a career in healthcare, working as a cardiopulmonary technologist in the cardiac catheterization lab at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. In 1983, he joined ABMC Hospital in Illinois, where he helped establish its new cardiac cath lab and served as its manager until his retirement in 1997.

Following retirement, Ron moved to Princeton, Wisconsin, to enjoy the things he loved most: fishing, hunting, and the great outdoors. An avid fisherman, he appreciated the opportunities Wisconsin provided to pursue his favorite pastimes.

Ron was a funny guy who enjoyed making people laugh. He had his own unique way of looking at life, and he was proud of his age. He loved telling people he was almost 80. He also had a hard time parting with things, especially scrap wood and little pieces he called “shims.” You never knew when you might need one! Ron believed in keeping things because they could always come in handy someday. These little quirks were part of what made him special and will surely bring smiles to the faces of those who knew and loved him.

Ron and his wife, Cyndy Kuncl (Vogt), would have celebrated 35 years of marriage this coming November. Their years together were filled with shared experiences, memories, and a bond that will always hold a special place in Cyndy's heart.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Cyndy; his three children, Heather, Kris, and T.J.; and his five grandchildren, Ella, Jack, Becket, Keaton, and Zoe.

Although Ron had no siblings, he always thought of his cousin, Donna Parker, as his little sister, a special family bond that held a place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand Richard Kuncl and Mary Kuncl (Tuma). Ron will be remembered for his service to his country, his dedication to his work, his love of fishing and hunting, his wonderful sense of humor, and the unmistakable personality that made him who he was. The memories he created with family and friends will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A Special Thank You

Ron’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the emergency and ambulance personnel, nurses, doctors, and other supportive staff at ThedaCare Berlin and ThedaCare Regional Medical Center–Neenah for the excellent care and compassion shown to Ron and his family during his time of need.

An especially heartfelt thank-you goes to Connor Hunter, whose kindness and willingness to stop and help Ron in his time of need will never be forgotten. Our family will be eternally grateful for his compassion and the difference he made.

No wake or funeral service will be held. A private family gathering to spread Ron’s ashes will take place at a later date.

Forever in Our Hearts Though Ron may be gone from our sight, he will never be gone from our hearts. We will remember his laughter, his love of the outdoors, his resourceful ways, and the little things that made him uniquely Ron. May the memories he leaves behind bring comfort to those who loved him, and may there always be a little piece of scrap wood somewhere that reminds us to smile and think of him.
