Appleton – Ruth Anne Busick, 79, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 19, 2024 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Dementia. She was born on March 23, 1945, in Menominee, MI, the daughter of Alvin and Bertha (Ebbinger) Ahsmann. Ruth grew up on a farm in Wallace, MI with her parents and 2 brothers. She spent her summers working at the Shakey Lakes ice-cream stand, and still talked about those days up until her last years. Ruth graduated from Stephenson High School in 1963, and went on to graduate from Wisconsin College of Cosmetology in Green Bay in 1964. Ruth married her high school sweetheart, Charles Busick Jr, on July 18, 1964. They resided in Racine, WI for one year. After leaving Racine, they settled down in Crivitz, WI, where they raised their 3 children. Ruth was a homemaker and worked part-time as a beautician. Eventually, they became business owners and successfully owned and operated the local furniture and flooring store called Crivitz Furniture. Ruth went on to run the business until she retired in 2013. This is what she was most known for. If her name was mentioned in conversation, you could almost guarantee the store would also be mentioned. Shortly before retiring, she moved to Marinette where she spent 9 years, and finally spent her final 2 years in Appleton.
Ruth enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, crocheting, going to church, vacationing, volunteering at the local hospital and nursing home, listening to music, and painting.
Ruth is survived by her children: Scott (Brenda) Busick, Sherry (Rick) Flora, and Sandy (Roger Kriedeman Jr); Grandchildren: Austin and Autumn Flora, Hannah Busick, Nicolas and Jacob Baldwin; Step-Grandchildren: Derek Long, Talor Devore, Kaylee Behrendt, Nicholas Kriedeman, Joshua Flora. Great Grandchildren: David and Noah Devore; 7 nieces (Cheryle, Cindy, Maren, Merrie, Marcia, Melissa, Jody) and 3 nephews (Greg, Craig, Mike).
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jack (Carol) Ahsmann of Wallace, MI and her brother Douglas (Ardyce) Ahsmann of Port Washington, WI.
Ruth was cared for by loving family members throughout her long battle with dementia. Ruth’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Compassus Hospice nurses, and also to her very special caregivers over the last 5 years: Karen, Elise and Janet for providing exceptional care. We would also like to thank all of our family and friends for their support and prayers. Ruth touched the lives of many people throughout her journey of life. She will truly be missed and will never be forgotten.
A private celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
