Tommye Dee Curatolo-Gintz passed away on February 26, 2026 due to complications related to respiratory failure.
She loved her family. Christmas was a special day, and she and took great joy in buying her grandchildren Christmas gifts that she would give and send world-wide!
Tommye is survived by one son, Donny Holdren and one daughter, Dawn Huff. She was preceded in death by her daughters Rachel Evans in 2018, and Barbara Molina in 2019; she is further survived by five grandchildren, Zack, Jessica, Ryan, Donovan, and Kyle; and six great-grandchildren. She raised her grandson Donavon, now a retired Air Force veteran with a wonderful family. She never failed to pay her love forward.
She worked 20 years at General Dynamics in Kearny Mesa, a suburb of San Diego where she met Tony Curatolo. They were married in 1996. Tony had two children, Dawn, and Tony Jr. Tommye was their mom too.
Tony was a Viet Nam veteran who passed away due to service-related disabilities in 2012.
She met Chuck Gintz at the Appleton church of Christ and they were married on July 27th, 2019.
Tommye and Chuck enjoyed a morning cup of coffee in the family room by the fireplace looking out at the flowers, birds, butterflies, squirrels and bunny rabbits around the patio and back yard. It was a special treat to go to their favorite coffee shop, Copper Rock where she loved her tuxedo mocha and one of their omelets or sandwiches. Trips to San Diego, Germany and Door County were very special times among many others.
She loved her brothers and sisters at the Appleton church of Christ. As she became less able to attend services, we were grateful to be able to participate by watching services on the church’s YouTube channel.
She and Chuck had lunch with grandson Zachary regularly, and she loved to play a family card game, 3-13 with them. Zachary even let grandma and grandpa win occasionally.
Zachary walked Tommye down the aisle at her wedding and “gave her away.”
The passing of Rachel and Barbara within six-months was a test of her faith, but with the help of our church family and Whit Sasser our pastor, she was able to "maintain" a day at a time realizing her daughters were both in the arms of Jesus.
Her loved ones take great solace that she is with her daughters in heaven.
In her illness she gave her love to others. The doctors, nurses and support staff became a part of her family, and she loved to joke and laugh with them. We are thankful for the care she got at St. Elizabeth's hospital, the Rennes Health and Rehab facility, and the Appleton Retirement Community where the staff there loved and cared for Tommye in her last days. A special thanks to Shannon, a Nurse and to Amie, the Executive Director at ARC who facilitated dealing with a family matter and counseled Chuck and Zack in Tommye's last days.
We are especially thankful to our friends and family from the Appleton church of Christ who prayed for and visited us, brought cards, and who laughed and cried with us.
A memorial visitation will be held from 1:30 - 2:30 PM on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Appleton Church of Christ, 3601 E. Newberry St, Appleton, WI 54915 with a service to follow at 2:30 PM.
3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:3,4
