Wallace M Smith

May 9, 1950 — January 6, 2019

Wallace M. Smith, age 68, of Appleton passed away on January 6, 2019 from cancer. Wally was born to Wallace and Jewel Smith on May 9, 1950, in Alabama. The family moved to Florida when Wally was young and he has always considered it to be his home. Wally married Carol Mowrey (Zygmont) on August 20, 1983 and they welcomed a daughter, Jennifer, on December 6, 1983. Wally and his family moved to Wisconsin in 1998.
While living in Wisconsin, Wally's unique sense of humor charmed everyone he met, most notably his coworkers at Sam's Club and Home Depot. When he wasn't working, Wally enjoyed playing computer games, spending time with his family, and watching a variety of television, including college football, The Goldbergs, and The Walking Dead. He also enjoyed superhero movies such as The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. A lifelong animal lover, Wally was constantly taking in stray cats, feeding the birds, and rescuing turtles out of the street.
Wally is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, various aunts and uncles, friend Richard, and many cats. He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Jennifer; future son-in-law, Nicholas Welch; stepsons, David (Karen) Mowrey and Bryan (Natalia) Mowrey; grandchildren Amber, Cody, and Faith; cousin, Florence (Beau) Hall and family; cat, Meeps; grandcats, Domino and Cleo; and grandturtle, Simba.
Wally did not wish for a service, however the family would appreciate any condolences be left in the comments below. The family would also like to extend their thanks to the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Elizabeth's Hospital for their help and kindness during this time and to Wendy from Home Depot for her caring and concern.
