He wanted one more Opening Day!!
On November 22, 2025, William (Bill) Mindel passed away peacefully with his daughter and grandson, holding his hand.
Born on December 14, 1953 to Dowain and Winifred Mindel. Bill grew up in Neenah, Wi with his brothers and sisters; staying in Neenah to raise his own family. Throughout his life Bill enjoyed playing softball, camping, fishing, hunting and attending his kids sporting events. Dad loved to question my attire for school - I tried explaining jeans and a nice shirt with slides is now appropriate - but every time "You wore THAT to school?" "Yes dad! It's what people are wearing." Then, like his typical response to most things (just makes me smile) "Well, I guess so."
In his important role as a grandpa, he loved taking Owen fishing and hunting- his little buddy. He found joy taking Owen to his *hot spots* for fish! He was so proud of all the things Owen accomplished- be it his black belt, first deer or learning to play the trombone. The patience he had for that kid- was incredible. Owen loved to push grandpa a little too fast down the halls but it made them both laugh- what's another hospital visit?! Owen and grandpa enjoyed shooting baskets and sharing a Tom's cheeseburger! He just lit up whenever Owen was around.
Grandpa loved hearing about Cecelia and her horse and hoped to one day go to a show. But with a barn being a barn it never quite worked out. But he enjoyed watching videos and seeing pictures of her crushing her dreams. He was concerned about how fast she rode her speed horses and that she could get hurt. I assured her she was fine and was living her best life! Typical response, "I guess so!!"
He was proceeded in death by his brother Darrell, sister Pat, brother in law John Mansfield, brother in law Tim Wendt, brother in law Jim Thielman and both parents.
He is survived by his daughter Abigail (Tim) Raddatz and Joshua Mindel, his grandchildren, Cecelia and Owen, his brother Bob and wife Victoria, his sisters Carol Mansfield, Kathy Wendt and Debbie(Steve)Cottrell - as well as many other family members and friends.
A big thank you to all the residents and especially the caregivers at Adava. My dad enjoyed his apartment and met some really great people. Our deep gratitude to Bob and Victoria for always being there for my dad! It meant the world to us and I know, to him- all the visits and times you helped us.
Rest easy dad- Owen will keep chasing that big buck he promised you and all the fish he can catch! Love you ♡
